Dave McNulty came to the Charlotte area from Elgin, IL, in 1990. Born in Jersey City, NJ, Dave has a B.S. degree in Marketing from St. Peter’s College, Jersey City. He and his brother both played accordion, formed a band that lacked a bassist. Although popular instruments during the 40’s and 50’s before portable keyboards were available, accordion bashers will say that the only thing worse than an accordion is two accordions. He opted to move to the upright bass, studied privately, and the band –“The Double Sharps”- played locally during his high school and college days. During summers he played with combos in Pocono Mountain, PA resorts.
Entering the business world, Dave relocated several times during his business career in the textile industry but always found opportunities to play either upright or guitar bass with combos and big bands wherever he and his family lived. Now retired, he and his family currently reside in Lowesville, NC.
In addition to the Salisbury Swing Band, Dave plays with the Lake Norman Orchestra, combos and several community theater orchestras.
